Saudi Arabia's national teams who competed in international science and academic contests had tremendous success, winning 107 global awards across 25 events held between September 2023 and September 2024. This milestone brings the Kingdom's total, as represented by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), to 842 global awards. Domestically, over 582,000 students participated in national competitions organized by Mawhiba during the same period.

A Mawhiba report, released in conjunction with the Saudi National Day, revealed that 37,720 students took part in the Mawhoob Competition, while 42,702 students joined the Kangaroo Mawhiba Math Competition. Additionally, 32,094 students participated in the Bebras Mawhiba for Informatics, and the National Olympiad for Programming and AI (ATHKA) attracted 260,308 participants.

The 2024 National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa) had a record-breaking registration, with over 210,000 students from 47 educational districts submitting scientific projects. During this period, Mawhiba identified 28,265 gifted students, while extending its care to over 100,000 students across various initiatives.

In a historic achievement, Saudi Arabia hosted an international science Olympiad for the first time in 2024. Mawhiba, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and King Saud University, and with exclusive sponsorship from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), organized the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), which welcomed 333 gifted students from 90 countries and was supervised by 260 global chemistry experts.

The report also highlighted Mawhiba’s participation in five international Olympiads for the first time this year: the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO), the Ibn Sina International Biology Olympiad, the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), the International Standards Olympiad, and the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). These new endeavors complement Mawhiba’s involvement in 19 other established Olympiads spanning fields such as mathematics, physics, informatics, chemistry, science, and biology.

To ensure global excellence, Mawhiba held nine intense training camps and forums across all disciplines for students chosen to represent Saudi Arabia in international competitions. These programs, which lasted from 10 to 90 days, were taught by top-tier local and international facilitators.

The report stated that "Mawhiba" launched many enrichment programs for the summer of 2024, benefiting around 13,000 gifted students from 16 cities and governorates. These programs were also made available remotely to all students in the Kingdom, with durations ranging from three to four weeks and four advanced courses focused on enhancing their talents and capabilities. Appropriate assistance was offered to help students develop and strengthen these skills, allowing them to pick courses that matched their strengths and future goals. This was accomplished in partnership with various universities, research institutions, and educational departments.

In partnership with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), Mawhiba hosted the third edition of the “Gifted Arab” Initiative in Riyadh. The initiative aims to invest in the young Arab generation's talents and creativity, preparing them to drive change and create the future. A total of 807 students from 16 Arab countries completed the Arab Talent Assessment, which identified 550 outstanding students, 431 of whom participated in Mawhiba's 2024 summer enrichment programs in Riyadh.

As the new academic year began, approximately 8,000 students enrolled in the Mawhiba Classes Program, which was presented in collaboration with 155 prestigious schools. Furthermore, the Mawhiba Advanced Program for Science and Mathematics served nearly 2,000 students in 100 cities and governorates. This effort intends to develop brilliant students' scientific and mathematics skills through specialized courses and exciting learning environments.

In recognition of its pioneering role in identifying gifted students and enabling them in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines both locally and worldwide, Mawhiba signed the "Mawhiba-UNESCO STEM Online Learning Oasis" Agreement at UNESCO headquarters. This effort focuses on promoting STEM education for Arab students, which is an important step toward developing regional innovation and scientific prowess.

Domestically, Mawhiba signed nine MoUs with new entities to build capacities in STEM and other disciplines, supporting sustainable development.

Continuing to support and care for gifted individuals while expanding its role in empowering them through the Mawhiba Alumni, established for high school graduates, Mawhiba successfully facilitated the empowerment of over 1,176 members in more than 25 public and private entities between September 2023 and September 2024. During the same period, the Mawhiba Alumni gained almost 2,000 new members, bringing the total membership to 36,000.

Mawhiba received four global ISO certifications in 2024, covering quality management, environmental management, risk management, and occupational health and safety, reflecting its dedication to quality, sustainability, and operational excellence, along with its commitment to delivering exceptional and effective service to its clients.
