The 65th Edition of the 2024 International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) began today in the United Kingdom and will continue from July 15th to July 21st. The Saudi Mathematics Team, represented by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Education, will compete against teams from 125 countries.
The Saudi Mathematics Team is made up of: Moath Al-Qahtani – for the General Directorate of Education Eastern Province, Hadi Al-Aythan – for the Public Administration for Education in Al-Ahsa, Ahmed Al-Shahri – for the General Administration of Education in Riyadh, Yousef Bakheet – for the General Directorate of Education at Royal Commission in Yanbu, Mohammed Rabea – for the General Directorate of Education in Madinah, and Mohammed Al-Ghamdi – for the General Directorate of Education Eastern Province.
This participation is part of Mawhiba's International Olympiads Program, which is organized in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education. The program is one of 20 different initiatives available to gifted students each year, including advanced courses and enrichment programs. It takes gifted students on a journey to discover, develop, empower, and invest in their abilities, with help from both local and international partners.
Throughout this journey, students undergo intensive training, amounting to more than 1,000 hours annually, both locally and internationally, in their chosen scientific track. This training is led by a remarkable team of local facilitators and worldwide Olympiad specialists.
The International Mathematics Olympiad is a prominent and challenging global competition. It piques the interest of top universities around the world, who are looking for individuals who excel at pattern identification, logical problem solving, statistical analysis, probability theory, and dealing with enormous data sets in order to predict the future.
