The Saudi Science and Engineering Team Wins 27 Awards at ISEF 2024

The Saudi Science and Engineering Team won achieved 27 awards at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024), including 18 grand prizes awards and 9 special prizesawards; as it competed with more than 1,700 students from more than 70 countries around the world from May 10 to 17.

 

The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba" explained that the Kingdom won among the major awards, two awards in second place, 6 awards in third place, and 10 awards in fourth place.

 

Dr. Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazza, the Secretary-General of "Mawhiba", emphasized that this achievement reflects the great and continuous support provided by the wise leadership, may Allah protect it, for talent, science, and innovation. She added: "It demonstrates the success of the fruitful cooperation and strategic partnership between "Mawhiba" and the Ministry of Education, and the capabilities provided by the national system to develop the exceptional capabilities of the Kingdom’s students and ensure their strong presence in international forums.

 

She pointed out that achieving 27 awards at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024) is the culmination of joint efforts. Such achievement confirms the commitment to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in building a vibrant society and a prosperous economy by enhancing human capabilities and innovation.

 

She added: "We are proud at Mawhiba to continue to care for and empower the nation’s students and provide them with everything necessary; not only to excel in international competitions, but to be ambassadors of science and creativity who represent the nation at the highest levels".

 

The second place was achieved by: student Hamad Al-Husseini in the field of energy and student Abeer Al-Yousef in the field of chemistry.

 

The third place was achieved by: Elias Khan in the field of biomedicine and health sciences, student Suleiman Al-Misnad and student Latifa Al-Ghannam in the field of energy, student Turki Al-Dalami in the field of environmental engineering, student Tahani Ahmed in the field of materials science, and student Laila Zawawi in the field of translational medical sciences.

 

The fourth place was achieved by: student Nasser Al-Suwayan in the field of biomedical engineering, student Lana Al-Mazrouei in the field of molecular and cellular biology, students Yara Al-Qadi and Yara Al-Bakri in the field of environmental and earth sciences, student Shahad Al-Mutlaq in the field of energy, student Asmaa Al-Qusair in the field of environmental engineering, students Areej Al-Qarni and Lana Al-Fuhaid in materials science, and in plant sciences, students Layan Al-Maliki and Tamara Radi.

 

With this achievement, the Kingdom raised its special awards at the “ISEF 2024” to 160 awards; including 110 major awards and 50 special awards, as its participation in the fair began in 2007.
